Why Politics and Art Sales Don't Mix

Even though the race for president really began well over a year ago, with the close of the Democratic National Convention last week in Charlotte, and the Republican convention the week before that in Tampa, I think we can safely say that the 2012 Presidential election is now in full swing.
Election season is always a tumultuous time for the country, especially so this cycle with the current economic climate. Emotions run high, and even friends and families sometimes divide down party lines. Lawn signs and bumper stickers abound and the election is front and center in every newspaper and cable news show.
We almost can't help ourselves - we're Americans and we love a good political fight.
While politics permeates almost every aspect of our daily lives, I would argue that there is one place where it doesn't belong, and that is in the conversation of any artist or gallery professional engaged in the sales process.
