I have long held that in order to build a successful career, an artist has to start by building an extensive body of gallery-ready work. In order to sustain the success, it is critical that the artist maintain a high level of production and quality. Becoming a successful artist is hard work. Many artists I know struggle finding the motivation to get into the studio and create. This is especially true when times are difficult and artwork isn't selling.

If you struggle with motivation, as many of us do, I invite you to join me for a powerful new online workshop with Mark McGuinness. McGuinness is an internationally recognized coach for artists and creatives. He gave a powerful workshop, Time Management for Artists, at Xanadu's 2011 Ignition Conference, and I still get emails from artists who say McGuinness's talk empowered them to take control of their time and continue feeling the benefits of his advice nearly two years later.

McGuinness's new workshop, Motivate Creative People (Including Yourself) promises to be just as powerful and will help you tap your inner creativity and find the motivation get into the studio and produce your best work.

IMPORTANT! This workshop is not just directed to artists, but to those who live and work with artists as well. We recommend that you invite your business manager, partner, spouse or other motivator to attend this workshop with you. McGuinness will help those around you better understand what motivates artists, and how to help the creative spirit along.

Motivate yourself to overcome obstacles and create amazing work - and a sustainable career.

  • Boost your motivation
  • Spark your creativity
  • Balance your creative and career ambitions
  • Influence others
  • Stop suffering for your art - start enjoying it!

The writer Isaac Asimov loved his work so much that he couldn't wait to sit down at his desk in the morning and had to be dragged away from it at night.

What difference would it make to your creative work - and your career - if you were fired up by that kind of motivation?

Let's face it, creative work is difficult. It takes a particular kind of persistence to keep chipping away at it day after day, week after week, year after year. Motivation is often the critical factor that separates those who succeed from those who fall by the wayside.

And the research on creativity demonstrates that motivation is crucial to creative performance. Most creatives are motivated by a combination of love of their work and professional ambition - get the mix wrong and you risk blocking your creativity and stalling your career.

This practical session will help you understand the four most powerful types of motivation and use them to achieve creative and commercial success.

During the workshop you will learn:

  • Why motivation is crucial to creative success
  • What Iggy Pop can teach you about motivation
  • Why focusing on rewards can harm creative performance
  • How to write 47 novels before breakfast
  • Why some people seem so weird - and how to deal with them
  • The positive side of peer pressure

and much, much more . . .

About Mark McGuinness

Mark McGuinness is business coach and trainer specializing in the creative industries. He has worked with clients across the whole spectrum of artistic and commercial creativity, including television, design, advertising, marketing, architecture and, of course, visual artists.

Mark has been coaching and training creative professionals since 1996, when he started practicing as a psychotherapist and noticed he had a high proportion of artistic clients suffering from conditions such as writer's block and stage fright.

Realizing most of them needed professional coaching rather than personal therapy, he started a specialist coaching service for artists and other creative professionals, which continues to this day. Since 2000 he has provided coaching and training to companies as well as private clients.

"[The Workshop] made me look at how I work and why I work, in a completely different way. Mark has a very laid back style which is great."

Sarah Turner, TurnerInk.co.uk

"I can't recommend Mark enough. His seminars are always engaging, useful and relevant. By the end of every session the seminar room is full of motivated and inspired faces. I can't wait to work with him again!"

Sian James - Create KX

"Mark's presentation and workshop was illuminating [and] entertaining"

Sean Kirkegaard, Development Executive - BBC Children's Television
