Biographical Information:

Family and friends-their value and importance to this impassioned artist-permeate the work of this New Mexico painter and sculptor. Guilloume's body of work is the result of a man following his passion for more than 30 years. His drive for creating perfectly understated yet timeless oil paintings and bronze sculptures and reliefs is fueled by his love for various members of his very large family of origin as well as his adoration of his children and his wife, Gladys, the love of his life.

The story begins in 1957 in Medellín. Nestled in the Aburrá Valley at the north end of the Andes Mountains, Medellín is Colombia's second largest city. 1957 was the year that the artist's mother gave birth to her 19th of 20 children, Guilloume. From the time he was a toddler, his mother instilled in Guilloume the belief that "everything is possible and you can do whatever you set your mind and heart to. So why not shoot for the moon? It matters not if you miss your target and hit your neighbor's cow."

New Arrivals

Dad's Place by Scott Redmond Scott Redmond was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and has made the state his home for most of his life.  Redmond's interest in art flourished at a young age and his natural talent was apparent as he continually sketched real and imaginary objects.  Redmond was introduced to painting during middle school when he picked up his mother's brushes and oil paints.  This experience ignited a passion for applying paint to canvas.  Redmond feels most alive and in touch with his soul while at the easel.

The passion for painting remained with the artist through high school and into college.  Redmond studied art at The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and Western Michigan University.  Scott then attended the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in Political Science with the intention of becoming an attorney.  Redmond studied Law briefly at Michigan State University and pursued an M.B.A. in Finance at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Redmond previously worked in the family's paper converting plant, taking over as President when his father passed away.  Scott also worked as a Financial Advisor at Citizen's Bank and as a Financial Consultant at Morgan Stanley.  He and his wife operated a retail cafe as well as a wholesale bakery for several years.  Scott Redmond, Landscape Paintings

Scott's most important and valued accomplishment is his family.  His wife Gerri is the love of his life, and their children Mary and Jimmy are, along with their mother, Redmond's prized treasures.  They are his inspiration, his foundation, and his pride.  The love of his family keeps him grounded and secure, without them he would be an empty and hollow shell.  Redmond feels their love for him defines his existence and completes him as a person.
"I feel that art is one of the most important of human endeavors, as it is purely creative and inspired by the soul.  It is during these times of creation when we, as human beings, most closely resemble our Heavenly Creator and can share in
a piece of divinity as He intended.  We also share in that Divinity when we create a family, just as God created us.  It is therefore only natural that what I value most in life are my wife and children, and my painting.  They each comprise half of my being, residing in me as gifts of immeasurable and irreplaceable value that have come to me from God."

Redmond is primarily an impressionist, although he does create abstract pieces as well.  His work typically involves a sentimental or emotional theme intended to evoke memories in the viewer, or transport the viewer to a particular emotional state.  These elements are utilized to varying degrees depending upon the subject matter.

Redmond currently spends his time split between Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He completes his pieces on a variety of museum quality substrates including stretched cotton and linen canvas, as well as linen, cotton and wood panels, and occasionally hand crafted art papers.

Redmond's work is featured in the September 2010 issue of American Art Collector Magazine.

Featured Collectors | Tim & Sabrina E.
Paradise Valley, AZ
Communion by Gary Price
Communion by Gary Price

Paradise Valley, Arizona residents, Tim and Sabrina E. have solved the age-old dilemma faced by avid art collectors: "What do I do when I run out of wall space, but find more art that I love?" Their solution is simple. Every two or three weeks, when Tim has had a martini and is in the mood for change, he re-hangs the art. A spacious walk-in closet in the den serves as storage for artworks that are taken off the walls. A visit to the home will always bring the delight of seeing something new or moved to a different location. When Sabrina returns from work, she never knows what will be on display.

When Tim and Sabrina first visited Xanadu in February, we had just received several new Linza "Geometry" artworks which were lying on the floor ready to go up on the wall. Even on the floor, the collectors could see how cool the pieces were, and decided they would be great for their new home. Since the home wasn't quite ready to move into, the Linza acrylic and steel artworks went into storage. When the couple returned to Xanadu a couple of months later, they had just moved in and were looking for other art to display in the spacious contemporary home.

Over the next few months, their collection of Xanadu art grew from the original two Linza pieces to include two more Linza's; a rounded metal wall sculpture and a tree painting by John and Elli Milan; a 38"x55" photograph by Curtis Brannum; and two paintings by Guilloume, an artist brand new to Xanadu but well-known to collectors throughout the country.

The couple's latest Xanadu acquisition is a bronze by Gary Price entitled "Communion." The dynamic sculpture is permanently installed in the garden, where it can be enjoyed equally from the entertainment room and the patio.
 Guilloume and Clients
Recently, Artist Guilloume and his wife Gladys brought new paintings, bronzes, and bronze reliefs to Xanadu. While in town, we all visited Tim and Sabrina's home so the collectors could meet Guilloume, whose large painting "Over the Line" enjoys a place of prominence.

Tim emailed the gallery about the art they have selected from Xanadu:

" If you ever want to have clients look at say how Linza, Milan, Guillloume or Brannum  pieces look in a home setting - please call and we would be happy to show them.   We love the sculpture and everyone that visits always comments on how great the piece is and what an ideal location it is    So, unlike the wall art that I move around on regular basis - that one will be staying in its current location!"
